Camila Alves, represented by UNO has already visited Madrid for the Master tennis 2011, and as a stunning ambassador of Lexus. She beamed as she expressed how happy she was with her visit to Spain.
Camila, now living in Malibu shares her life with her partner, Hollywood star Matthew Mcconaughey and their two children Levi and Vida. Just shy of 30 she looks nothing if not spectacular.
LIFE magazine interviewed her recently curious about the stars couple´s family life. When asked about the best gift she ever got, she answered “it was what Matthew gave to me last year at Christmas… but I’m not telling!” They are obviously happy and this shines through every time we see her in any event, where she always dazzles. She was mentioned as one of best dressed on the Oscars 2011 by many publications such as Esquire and The Sun, to which she wore a Kaufman Franco dress, Stuart Weitzman shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and a Kotur bag.
Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, at the age of 19 she moved to NY and decided to try out modeling. She is not ashamed of admitting that she had to work at it very hard. When she was 15 and lived in LA she had to make a living cleaning houses and waiting tables, all while learning English since Portuguese was the only language she spoke. Four years later she was walking the runway for Carolina Herrera and posing in ads for Armani.
Always close with her mother Fatima, in 2005 they both started to design handbags together. After 3 years of hard work, they created their company MUXO, of which they are both very proud.
“I wanted to focus on handbags since I couldn´t find one that fitted all of my needs”
Talking about her work as a designer she says "MUXO handbags are influenced by the two places I spend a lot of my time in: Brazil and New York. They are as ready for the beach as they are for 5th avenue."
Not just a model, designer and mother Camila is also the host of Bravo´s reality-show “Shear Genius” an American competition surrounding hair design and style.
Camila has finally lived her own American dream but never forgotten her Brazilian roots.
As she herself told HELLO! Magazine, she loves to speak Portuguese, listen to Brazilian music and melodies, eat food that reminds her of her child hood and when the sun goes down, dancing as much as she can. “The people in Brazil are amazing” she explaims.
Camila has always been concerned about health and good habits. She and Matthew started the nonprofit organization “Just Keep Livin´. The foundation defends the idea of a way of living in which each child should be given the option of a healthy life style. It also helps teenagers maintain an active and healthy childhood so they can become great men and women in the future.
We can also see her recently with the first lady Michelle Obama at the kickoff for the 14th annual Read Across America event, where she joined nearly 400 children and read “Hop on Hop” ,while Obama read “Green eggs and Ham”
